Character Outlines

Fili: Blue hood, silver belt, yellow beard, carrying around tools and spades, and a fiddle. Good eyes, the youngest one. Cheerful, cheeky, feeling belittled. Wants to prove himself. Bites off more than he can chew.

Bombur: Cheerful, optimistic, naive. Anxious for a long trip without adequate food supplies. Does not question authority. Somewhat uncomfortable with the adventure lifestyle, but he prefers a warm safe home, to legends of gold and dragons. Travelling across the world might be taxing as food and comfort may run short. Immensely fat.

Thorin: Well-mannered, wary of social etiquette, takes a lot of pride in honor, has a blunt style of communication. Elitist. Likes to sing. Has lived in Erebor prior to the dragon. Likes to bling.

Gandalf: Old and grumpy. Does not question that he will live to see the end of the journey, and forces the others out on a perilous journey for his own mystical motives. Cynical. There is a higher motive for Gandalf’s actions. However, he often gets very frustrated with the dwarves, and leaves for a little recreational time with himself and his pipe. Does not care much for pride and honor. He enjoys intrigues and smoke rings.

Balin: Voice of reason. Braver than the others. Wise. Humble. The oldest dwarf. Balin has lived in Erebor before the dragon came. Gets less humble when drinking.

Dori: The clumsy helping hand.
