04 - Dori (01)

Dori left the table, but he didn't care about helping the other dwarves. He just wanted to walk out of the door and see the landscape: it was so different from the landscape he was used to. Here, there were multi-coloured flowers, beautiful majestic trees and vast cultivated fields shining under the sun and rippling under the gentle springy breeze. When he was young, the other dwarves used to banter him because he had always loved colours and flowers. And the colours of the Shire where so vivid that they made him almost feel dizzy. They could almost hypnotise him. He was a strong and valiant dwarf, but he had also a deep aesthetic sense that made him enjoy small pleasures of life that the other dwarves didn't understand or didn't feel attracted to.

Purple, yellow, red and blue
Every colour here is true
Shining like the craved gems
That the dragon still defends...

He just started to sing this song all alone outside Bilbo's door, when a noise from the inside interrupted him.
